- High
Molecular Weight Polyethylene (PE-HMW)
Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (PE-UHMW)
Main characteristics:
Good wear
and abrasion resistance (particularly PE-UHMW)
High impact strength, even at low temperatures (particularly
PE-UHMW)
Excellent chemical resistance.
Low density compared with other thermoplastics.
Low coefficient of friction.
Excellent machinability.
physiologically inert (most grades are suitable for food contact).
Good resistance to high energy radiation (gamma and X-rays).
Not self-extinguishing.
HD500 - (PE-HMW), Natural, Black and
colours.
This grade exhibits a good combination of stiffness, toughness,
mechanical damping ability with wear and abrasion resistance
and can easily be welded. Whilst used mainly in the food industry
(the colours are food compliant e.g. red for meat), but can be
put to use in all kinds of mechanical, chemical and electrical
applications.
HD500R - (PE-HMW), black/green mix.
This grade is partially composed of reprocessed material. Useful
for applications where it's reduced physical properties are overruled
by its economical advantage.
HD1000 - (PE-UHMW), Natural, Black, Green.
This grade exhibits the best balanced property profile. It combines
an excellent wear and abrasion resistance with an outstanding
impact strength, even at temperatures below -200 deg C. It is
mainly used in general mechanical construction, bottling, canning
and packaging machinery, chemical and electroplating industry,
cryogenic equipment, textile industry and storage systems for
bulk materials. Also available in a partially reprocessed grade.
